The Yogi Collection was founded in early 2018 by entrepreneur Ray Tyler and is based out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It is named after his wife, Tierra "Yogi" Tyler, who passed away on March 3rd, 2017. Her death was a result of maternity health complications surrounding the premature birth of their daughter Angel. After nearly a year of mourning both of their deaths, Tyler decided to take action and try to make a difference. Out of that terrible tragedy, the concept of “Lifesaving Fashion” was born.
The Yogi Collection is dedicated to maternity health awareness and makes products that promote fitness, evoke happiness, and exude confidence. Our high-quality activewear that is designed to make women look great and stand out, while also being exceptionally comfortable and functional. We strongly advocate for and promote healthy living. And we donate 10% of profits to non-profit Maternity Health Research Organizations — fighting to save the lives of mothers.
Combating a Crisis
America has the highest maternity mortality rate in the developed world. A black woman in America is 22 percent more likely to die from heart disease than a white woman, 71 percent more likely to perish from cervical cancer, butat least 243 percent more likely to die from pregnancy- or childbirth-related causes.
In recent years, high rates of maternal mortality in the U.S. have increased and alarmed researchers. One statistic has been especially concerning. According to the CDC, black mothers in the U.S. die at three to four times the rate of white mothers. This is one of the widest of all racial disparities in women’s health.
By donating a percentage of all profits to maternity health research, and using women’s activewear fashion to bring awareness to this issue, our hope is to promote health and protect and save the lives of mothers.
